The History of Dharbhanga
Darbhanga is one of the very ancient districts of Bihar, which is also known as the heart of Mithilanchal. This city is very famous for its culture and traditions. This city is situated in the north direction of Bihar. At present, this city is developing very fast and from ancient times to the present time this place has developed a lot and is still developing. In ancient times, the people of the Mithi dynasty used to rule here. It is believed that this place was named after King Mithi of this place. At this place, all the people who were related to Videhahas were offered Janaka's proposal. Used to mean that everyone was known as Janak and one of them was King Janak, the father-in-law of Lord Shri Ram, who was known as Janak. People of different religions ruled this place. After the rule of Hindu rulers, this place was ruled by the king of the Tughlaq dynasty and then similarly ruled by the Mughals. During the reign of Akbar, 100,000 lakh mango trees were planted at this place, which is still famous as Lakhi Bagh. Darbhanga district was separated from Tiruhut on 1 January 1875 AD and this place was named as a new district. The famous Hua Ko is still a very famous place in the present times. Earlier this place was a part of Tirhut. During the rule of the East India Company, the title of Maharaja here and the title of the British were handed over to the Maharaja of Darbhanga, since then Darbhanga Maharaj made his residence in the city of Darbhanga and then slowly all kinds of people arrived. According to that time, Darbhanga Maharaj had a lot of wealth. His wealth was famous in Darbhanga state. He was known as Maharaja Lakhmeshwar Singh. who was a progressive and cultured chef.
Darbhanga is the administrative headquarters of Darbhanga Municipal Corporation, Darbhanga Division and Darbhanga District. Many types of fruits and flowers are grown in Darbhanga but this place is considered famous for mangoes and makhana.
